Lots of work on our shoulders to bear in a workday that includes urgent & Important work. You settle down to complete by End of the day. Working from home is the most distracting thing ever happened to society. Because of being unable to produce productivity at our peak threshold limits due to balancing between work and life. Everyone has relations that need to take care of Meanwhile one of your friends sent a funny video on WhatsApp or Facebook. You planned to watch that video only just that one. But web servers, do not allow you to watch a single video shared by your friend and get back to work on. Your fingers swipe up, down, left, and right to check for other relevant content that goes on and on for infinite times. And you realize at the end of the day how much time you wasted by watching that single video. Your psychological condition determines whether to leave the recommendations generated from the videos.

“The Scrolling down” phenomenon would impact your deliverables and leads to slip from minutes to hours. And that important assignment on your desk got delayed for another few days. These are all related to the psychological process of procrastination. This procrastination put you in a difficult situation in your career and your personal life.

We surrounded by so many distractions that we can’t get rid of them attacking the triggering points in our mind that leads to satisfaction in your mind rather than completing our tasks.

Distractions in WFH- home activities, too much content available on the internet, consuming much visual content over knowledge, and social media all are consuming more than 15% of our productivity.

In the remaining 85% of the time, we consumed 32% of the time in finding the right stuff like analyzing and researching the things which would be helpful in our actual work. And 20 % of the time goes to meetings that most of the time lead to unproductive solutions and incompleted conclusions. The remaining 33% goes to actual work if we don’t have any dependencies. If we struck somewhere in the middle then the same cycle starts again either by consulting some expert or experienced person to remove the block. Sometimes we need to search and explore the solution to get back to work by clearing the dependency or blocker.

All these lead to postponement of things and passing the days in front of the system with less progress towards the completion. Nowadays no one doing micromanagement how many hours you’re there in front of the system what work you did do? Everyone is looking for the accomplishment of work that started earlier that you were able to complete within the stipulated time period that we were given or promised to do.

By considering the ideal scenario, we don’t know whether our managers doing micromanagement or they are okay with the things carried out by us in a day. Manager not asking us what we did in a day means that he/she was not doing micromanagement. Nowadays due to pandemics, so much software came to track your activities how much productivity you’re and how much time you’re there in front of the system. All these metrics aggregate together results and impact your career progression and sometimes that is the reason your manager shows not promote you to higher levels.
